Abstract

Background: Obesity (Sthaulya) is a prevalent lifestyle disorder with a global impact. Ayurveda describes Medoroga as a chronic, yapya condition requiring long-term management.

Objectives: To compare the clinical efficacy of Guduchyadi Churna and Trifala Churna in the management of Sthaulya.

Methods: A randomized clinical trial including 300 patients with BMI 25–30. Patients were randomly allocated into two groups receiving either Guduchyadi Churna or Trifala Churna for 45 days. Both subjective and objective parameters were monitored at baseline and every 15 days.

Results: Both groups showed significant improvement, but the Guduchyadi group demonstrated comparatively better reduction in BMI, weight, abdominal circumference, and subjective symptoms.

Conclusions: Guduchyadi Churna is more effective than Trifala Churna in managing Sthaulya and can be safely administered over a longer period.
